WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE

PSD empowers young people aged 5-24 years from marginalized and underserved communities to become confident, competent, and gender-sensitive leaders within their communities.

Using a participatory approach, PSD develops and integrates structured, goal-oriented, and evidence-based sport, physical activity and play-based programs within school and community settings, ensuring young people can access their fundamental right to play.

Through these programs, young people, especially girls, experience improved health and well-being and develop essential life skills and values. Additionally, PSD’s initiatives build young people’s capacities on gender, adolescent health and hygiene and child rights.

“I was scared to speak in front of others, I was not confident. During the sessions, I learned how to express myself and talk to others, respect others and converse with them. I have now gained self-confidence, and I have learned to speak like this from PSD.”

- CSP Participant, 2023-24

““Earlier, we did not want to speak to boys, and were scared to meet them. However, when PSD came, all of us played together. We understood that we could meet and talk to them. Now, even in our class, we sit and work together. We do not feel that we are different.”

- CSP Participant, 2023-24

“PSD is doing a very good job, participants‘ perception about gender has changed. All the participants enjoy playing together. Earlier, they used to play [separately], now they play together. There is no difference between them.”

- Teacher, CSP Partner School

““She is much more active nowadays in comparison to earlier. Sometimes, she exercises on her own … and sometimes calls me to exercise with her. She has become much smarter.”

- Parent, CSP Participant

“Earlier, he did not talk to any girl. But now he talks with girls and also plays with them. He told us that boys and girls play together in their school.”
